The more you can tell us up front, the more useful the first reply will be. What you are trying to build, roughly when you need it, and anything that already exists - a design, a spec, a running system - is usually enough for us to come back with something concrete rather than a request for more information.

You do not need a finished brief. Plenty of projects here started as a paragraph describing a problem, and the scope was worked out together in the first call.
